Morteo and Moramarco Triumph at Spa-Francorchamps in Alfa Revival Cup Round

In a thrilling showcase at Spa-Francorchamps during the 2026 Alfa Revival Cup, Alessandro Morteo and Lorenzo Moramarco clinched victory driving their Alfetta GT Turbodelta. This win placed them ahead of competitors Roberto Restelli and Davide Bertinelli's 1750 GTAm, while Patrick Wilwert and Philippe Vermast finished third in another 1750 GTAm. With this result, Bertinelli strengthened his lead in the G/H/I championship, setting the stage for an exciting finale at Misano in November.

Challenges Faced During the Event

Despite the eventual success, the race weekend did not unfold smoothly for some frontrunners. Dario Inhelder and his teammate Peter Bachofen faced a setback when Inhelder went off the track during free practice in their 1750 GTAm, ultimately barring them from participating in the race. Morteo and Moramarco encountered mechanical issues with their Turbodelta that were fortunately resolved in time for them to take part in the race.

Qualifying and Race Dynamics

The qualifying session set the stage for an exciting competition, with Giacomo Barri achieving pole position in the 1750 GTAm he shared with Mario Salomone. Barri posted a striking lap time of 2 minutes 48.967 seconds, showcasing the competitive nature of the field. Following Barri were Restelli in second and Ambrogio Perfetti in third, with Morteo starting from the second row after encountering some challenges in practice. A red flag during qualifying temporarily halted progress when Alberto Franceschetti’s Formula GT 1750 GTAm stopped on the circuit, adding another layer of complexity to the qualifying session.

As the one-hour race commenced, Morteo quickly made a charge toward the front, intensifying the competition among the leaders. Perfetti and Restelli initially held strong positions, while pole-sitter Salomone faced difficulties and began to slip down the order. Midway through the race, a mandatory pit window influenced the dynamics; Morteo handed over the car to Moramarco, with Bertinelli switching places with Restelli and Vermast taking over for Wilwert. Just after the pit stops, a Safety Car period compressed the field, tightening the gaps between the leading contenders.

Final Stages and Results

After the restart, Moramarco skillfully maintained the lead and crossed the finish line first, securing both the overall victory and a win in the I GTS 2800 class. Despite a late charge from Bertinelli, who reduced the gap behind Moramarco, the win was unshakeable. Wilwert and Vermast impressed with a massive recovery, moving up from sixth on the grid to clinch third overall, while Perfetti settled for a respectable fourth place.

In H1 T 2000, Fausto Amendolagine and Gianluca Bardelli topped the standings in their Andromeda GT Veloce 2000. André Kardol claimed H2 TC 2000 with the Alfa Race Team GT Veloce 2000, despite facing a one-minute penalty for a pit stop violation. Both Franceschetti and Hans Luginbühl also faced penalties during the race for track-limit infringements.

Championship Standings Ahead of the Finale

The E/F race witnessed Nikolaus Ditting emerging victorious in his Steinke Racing Giulia Sprint GTA, while Emanuele and Alessandro Morteo finished second in their Giulietta TI. Their runner-up position propelled them to the top of the E/F championship standings with 32 points, edging out Giovanni Serio and Franco Mischis, who remain in contention at 26 points due to missing this round. Roberto Lonardi trails closely at 19 points, indicating an open championship before the last race.

In contrast, the standings in G/H/I appear more settled. Bertinelli leads with 63.5 points, while Restelli and Zamuner trail behind at 30.5 points. The competition remains fierce, with the likes of Salomone, Barri, and Carlo Barbolini Cionini closely following with 27.5 points. After the race, Alfa Delta OKP maintained the top position in the teams’ standings, leading Carrera Team and Formula GT.

The climactic conclusion of the 2026 Alfa Revival Cup will take place at the Misano World Circuit on November 7-8. With championships on the line, the final race promises to deliver a blend of excitement, skill, and competitive spirit, underscoring the thrilling nature of this motorsport series.
